What is a ClayPaws® kit?
A ClayPaws® kit is a convenient way to make a lasting keepsake of a beloved pet's paw (or hoof!) ClayPaws® prints can be used to celebrate special events, to welcome new patients to your clinic, or when pets are euthanized. They also make a great promotional item for veterinary clinics.
Each kit contains one patty of clay, a tip sheet, and a protective bag for storing or transporting the print. (Each kit is intended to make one print. The kits are the right size for almost every animal. If you have a really large dog, you may find it easier to combine two kits to make a larger patty. HoofPrint kits are large enough to do most hooves also.)

How many ClayPaws® kits should we order?
Your order depends on the size of your clinic and how you plan to use the kits. Many clinics provide clients with at least two prints per family. Estimate how many new patient gifts and/or memorials you may need in a week. Multiply by two and that gives you your weekly total.
Next, decide how often you want to reorder and multiply accordingly. Many clinics use ClayPaws® prints to welcome new patients as well as a memorial after patient death or euthanasia. Since we offer you quantity discount pricing, your cost per kit actually decreases when you buy more!
Note: some clinics provide clients with two complimentary ClayPaws® kits and charge a nominal fee for additional prints. Or you can build the cost of
ClayPaws® kits into your euthanasia fee.

What is the shelf life of the modeling compound?
ClayPaws® kits should be stored in a cool location (under 85° F) away from direct sunlight. High temperatures may 'advance' the clay, causing it to crack and feel stiff as you knead it. When stored properly, our modeling compound will not dry out. Due to its oil base and our protective packaging, your clay should remain pliable even one year post purchase.
We offer a six month guarantee on our products. If you are dissatisfied with your ClayPaws® kits, simply return them to us for a refund.
How do you bake a ClayPaws® kit?
Baking instructions are included on the tip sheet in each ClayPaws® kit. If these instructions are lost, or not included, the instructions are below. If you wish,

To bake:
Bake on a glass dish (such as Pyrex®) at 275° F for 10-15 minutes for each 1/4" thickness. For altitudes above 5000 feet, increase temperature to 295-300° F. To avoid overbaking, remove from oven at the estimated time and allow to cool. Test for hardness by pressing your fingernail into the backside. If this leaves no impression, the print is done. If your nail makes an impression, return to hot oven and bake 5 more minutes. Repeat the process, then test again. You may continue this process safely until it is done. If overbaked, discoloration and cracking can occur. Do not use in a microwave oven.
Note: To avoid overbaking, first use an oven thermometer to determine the accuracy of your oven's temperature gauge. Also know that it may feel as if your print has stuck to the dish. This is normal. Simply put a spatula under the edge and apply light pressure. Your print should come loose.

What types of payment do you accept?
For your convenience, there are several ways you can pay for your orders. Online, you must pay with a Visa or Mastercard. You can choose to pay with Visa or Mastercard when you call or fax your order as well.
We can also invoice veterinary clinics for orders after your first pre-paid order.
